Established in 1930, the institution was originally set up as the South Eastern Railway Inter College, Bhojudih, serving the educational needs of the children of South Eastern Railway employees and residents of the Bhojudih railway settlement, within the Adra Division.
Over the years, the school has been renamed and now operates under its present official name, BNR School Bhojudih, Adra Division (erstwhile South Eastern Railway Inter College, Bhojudih), while continuing the same academic tradition and community it has always served.
The campus is spread over approximately 20,000 sq. m. of land, surrounded by greenery that supports a calm, healthy environment for learning. The school is well connected by both rail and road — about 31 km from Adra by rail, 45 km from Bokaro by road (55 km by rail), and 25 km from Dhanbad by road (36 km by rail).
The school functions under the administrative jurisdiction of the Adra Division, South Eastern Railway, and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi.
